Deck 6 Layout

It is a little tight with three in a cabin. We asked that the chair be removed, and even so, when the couch was made into a bed, there was only about 18 inches of walking space around any area. Actually, I didn't mind, but I mention it for people who like a lot of space, so they can make decisions accordingly. Each morning, after dear son (DS) arose, I would put the bed back into the couch, and that gave us more than enough room to manuever. And, as I said, the closet became the changing area. (July 2010)

In Depth Details of Stateroom F 390:

We were very pleased with the cabin.  Unlike most ships I've been on, you do not enter it from the main hallway.  Along the main hallway are short hallways that lead to two cabin doors, one on each side.  Each hallway/pair of door was adorned by a different tile, each a piece of art on their own.  In our case, our hallway led to cabins 388 and 390.

As you enter, there is a walk-in closet immediately to the left.  It is about 6 ft. long and 3.5 ft. wide.  There are multiple shelves, as well as a high pole upon which to hang long clothing (such as dresses), and two poles for short clothing, such as shirts or pants.  The safe is also in the closet.  Even loaded with the clothes for three of us, there were shelves left over to store souvenirs.  Although I didn't think of it beforehand, the walk-in closet was perfect; since our son was with us, it provided not only storage space, but a little "dressing area" to change clothes in privacy.

Walk in about 7 more feet and you find the bathroom to the left (i.e. parallel to the closet).  We had specifically chosen this cabin because there are few triples that have a bathtub, and we like having the tub available.   There is storage space under the sink for toiletries.  Small bottles of Elemis products were available and each day shampoo, soap,  conditioner and lotion were replaced, as needed.

The bed is stationed along the back wall (from the perspective of the door), beside the bathroom, with bedside tables on both sides.  My husband uses a CPAP, and so, of course, the search began for the closest outlets.  The only grounded outlet we could find was at the vanity (towards the foot of the bed, but 2 feet further down the cabin).  I mention this because people who need a CPAP should be sure to bring an extention cord/power strip.

Beside the bed was a sleeper sofa, and a small glass coffee table and armchair rounded out the "sitting area".  During the day, there was plenty of room, but, at night, with the sofa bed pulled out, it is a little tight with three in a cabin. The window was about three feet long and two feet wide.  There are two pieces of  plexiglass -- one on the hull and the other on our side, along our wall.  This is unlike the Rotterdam, where we used the space from the wall to our window for storage, but since the room came with so much storage, it wasn't a problem.

In the corner across from the sofa is a built-on corner unit, with a small refrigerator, shelves and the television.  A fruit basket on the shelves included a note stating that, if you choose to, you may have fresh fruit available each day.  We selected four types of fruit, which were replenished as they were consumed.

Beside the shelving (on the opposite wall from the bed and sofa) there is a vanity with four shallow drawers, a large (4ft by 6ft, I would guess) mirror, and a wall mounted make-up mirror.  It was convienent (and more tidy) to have my hair and make-up in the top drawers, and my son used the bottom two for some of his belongings.  Even though I brought my own hair dryer, one was provided with the room.

Anyway, the cabin was fine, unlike the older cabins they did not have a walkin closet but they had a nice size sliding door closet. We had lots of clothes and we had no problems. The good news is the cabin had a tub so we didn't have to fight in that little shower you so often get. I do know we liked the tub/shower as opposed to just shower. We were afraid they would do away with the tubs in the new cabins, they didn't.

There was plenty of room, I realize plenty is subjective. But we didn't bump into furniture. I would be on the little sofa reading or writing and my other half would be on the bed watching TV and we were fine. I think all cabins are tiny, but with the balcony you have more space. Just having an outdoor area makes me feel better.

Don't actually remember how many drawers, there were 3 or 4 in the desk/vanity and one each in the end tables. Most of our things I hung up as we were traveling in rainy/cool weather, so not too many shorts and t-shirts to put into drawers.

The balcony really didn't have any cover there was a very small overhang. Nice chairs and ottermans and a nice table.

I would stay in it again.

If you look through the old brochures from Royal Viking and Seabourn you can see that this cabin was called the Owners Suite. That more or less ties in with the reason that it is called the Titus Suite. [ Mr. Warren Titus was the man who conceived the concept of luxury cruising and who founded Royal Viking Line. He connected with three Norwegian ship-owners, who each contributed money to fund one ship and thus the Royal Viking Sea, Sky and Star were built. Mr. Titus was also the President of RVL. When in 1986 NCL with Knut Kloster as its owner bought Royal Viking, money became available to build the Royal Viking Sun, now the Prinsendam. Shortly after, Mr. Titus was asked to start up a new company which was called Seabourn Cruise Lines, again specializing in cruises in the luxury segment. Other upscale companies such as Sea Goddess (now Sea dream) and Crystal Cruises are based on the cruise model that he came up with first and what he called Royal Viking Line.
