Penne a la Vodka with Shrimp

Penne a la Vodka with Shrimp

Penne a la Vodka with Shrimp - submitted by passenger on our 2007 Ryndam cruise
Serves 4 - 6

1 stick butter
3 ounces of Vodka
1 pound shrimp
28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
¼ teaspoon dried, red pepper flakes
¾ cup cream
1 pound penne, cooked al dente

Melt butter in large frying pan on medium heat. Add Vodka and shrimp. Cook 3 - 4 minutes to burn off alcohol and cook shrimp.

Add tomatoes and pepper flakes. Stir.
Add cream and stir.

Taste for salt.

Serve hot over penne.

Variation by Hammybee:

I make my version of "the pink sauce", all the time.

I use about 1T unsalted butter, many cloves of chopped garlic and fat free half and half. It's almost as good with just a smidge of fat.
