Ryndam 765, Sea of Cortez cruise, 10 days out of San Diego. Cat E !!! upgrade from an inside Guar Cat N. We had an inside guarantee (Cat N) purchased about 4 weeks ahead of departure and received this GREAT upgrade to a Cat E oveanview room, starboard, midship on A deck, the lowest. We didn't get a cabin assignment until at the dock in San Diego.

It was a very stable location in the ship with hardly any motion. Only complaint (not that I'd complain about such a great upgrade...) was that midship on the S Class ships is furthest away from the elevators. So we burned a few extra calories walking, and a good thing we did because you know how good the food is!

I don't care too much for the tubs because it is a big step over the edge compared to the showers in the inside rooms, and the tubs are really pretty short for a tub soak, BUT I loved the window!! Nice to have the sofa and the adjustable table. The room was great for us. Plenty of closet space; big shelf under the sink in the bathroom to store all my ziplock bags of toiletries etc.

My mantra is that it's hard to have a bad day on a cruise ship! So tub or shower, inside or outside, we enjoyed a great cruise at a great last minute deal!

K548 on the Ryndam. We had this cabin for 14 days from last summer for Vancouver-Seward-Vancouver. It is much larger than other inside cabins of the same class - the bathroom is laid out the same as other K cabins. It seem like there was not as much storage space as we had in other K cabins. We really enjoyed the extra space. Our only complaint was that this cabin was WARM. They had people out to "fix it" three times in the first 18 hours. They agreed it couldn't be cooled enough, so they loaned us a large floor fan, which was quite satifactory. (IRL_Joanie's Note: This is a "sideways stateroom".)

Ryndam: Outisde D-Category Cabin, 604, Main Deck. Aboard the Ryndam I had a wonderful outside cabin amidships on Main Deck, port side. I love this location. The separate beds are great for friends, but if one is a couple one can have ... them put together to make a Queen bed. The cabin has ample counter and drawer space ... much more than the Vista ships!...bathroomnotice....While aboard for this cruise the Ryndam was undergoing major plumbing upgrades...The work only disrupted the hall ways during the day (and port days at that) ... for a short time during the cruise. ...March 15 - 23, 2007

This is a category D oceanview stateroom located on the lower promenade deck (Deck 6). It had an unobstructed view (of the deck, then the ocean) but when you're seated, all you can see is sky. LOL

The verandah cabins on the Ryndam are a really nice size. This room was great with a large and very comfortable sofa. This room is above one of the bars, so there was some music noise, but it wasn't bad. We loved this room.

This is Ryndam, cabin S 011 - by far the largest cabin we've ever had (or hope to have). The cabin was absolutely marvelous - loved all the space and especially the balcony for the 10 day cruise to the Sea of Cortez. Nothing like having two loungers on the balcony as well as a large table and 4 chairs. We were only a few cabins from the Neptune Lounge, on the Navigation Deck. I thought it might be noisy because of the Lido deck above, but it was very quiet. There is a great pool for swimming at the back of that deck - not nearly so crowded as the forward one a deck up. Loved the free laundry - came back folded in tissue paper. We usually try to get balconies now, except on Prinsendam, where anything will do.

S 018 Deluxe Verandah Suite Stateroom Deck 10 Navigation Deck

Our first cruise was a round trip, Inside Passage Glacier Bay aboard the Ryndam in S 018, yes a Deluxe Verandah Suite! Basically the outside was wall to wall windows, and the views were amazing, highly recommended especially for Alaska! The only thing I could possibly say that was negative about this suite, was it was starting to show its age a bit, but those things are easily fixed. S 018 was port side, directly across from the 'private' Neptune lounge, so you could pop in at any time and grab a drink or snack or just to relax and catch up on current events (CNN on TV). Also, we could make dinner reservations etc from the concierge, they were all very helpful. The cabin steward knew our names by the end of the first full day, which was hard to believe! The cabin was 'HUGE' compared to what I imagined and was very well layed out, lots of space even with the pullout couch extended. It was very nice to have a large bathroom, with a seperate change room, as
there were four of us in this suite, and it made getting ready for dinner etc alot smoother. The pull out was fairly comfortable, and the King bed was to die for!! Not really much more to add, but I would highly reccommend this suite!

S 033 Deluxe Verandah Suite Stateroom Deck 10 Navigation Deck

Deluxe Verandah Suite S 033 was a great cabin, nice location midship, overall very similar to S 018 from a previous trip, but everything was opposite. It was nice and close to the Neptune lounge which was very handy. The only problem/complaint with the suite was with the issues we had with the pull-out bed. The beds are designed with wooden slats that go across and for some reason they kept falling out or breaking. We had 4 to the cabin, jsut as we did in S 018 and no problems with that bed. Unfortunately this time we had to call and have someone come fix it three times and it made for a couple very poor nights sleep. The crew handled it well and did their best to try and fix it. I would assume this issue will be addressed on the next refit. Aside from that I would highly reccommend S 033!!

The location of Ryndam S 043 was towards the rear of the suites. Consequently, the jutout from the deck above blocked some of the sunshine and views. S 045 would have had more of the overhang. Other than that, it was fabulous!
