This is a large interior stateroom L500 on deck 5 port-side, foward (as forward as you can be on this deck!) The room was huge and is called "modified accessible" but is not fully wheelchair friendly as you can see. There's a step into the bathroom and the room door is standard size. It was a shower only bathroom with a very small step into it. My daughter and I loved the size. However, it was a bit noisy in the mornings. We would hear the awfullest, whiniest electric motor racket when docking; either the anchor chain motor or the directional thrusters or both would fire up. But this only persisted for a few minutes. Also, be aware that the beds are aligned with the keel, so your head is pointed in the direction of travel when you lie down. (June 2009)

Here are picture of our stateroom 600K Inside on the Statendam. This is only the 2nd of 15 cruises that we have been in an inside. We started with a Veranda on the Volendam and then we were in a super Veranda on the Oosterdam (325 sq ft). We also had a Oceanview D on the Rotterdam. And a DD on the Rotterdam which we didn't like. I think I like the Inside better than the DD. We had plenty of space for all of our clothes for the 32 days. We thought we could save some money to pay for some expensive shore excursions such as a trip to Tikal which was absolutely fabulous. Best excursion and most expensive one that we have ever taken. It was worth taking the Inside cabin.

I love the shower so I think we will be taking an inside on most of HAL's ships. Only exception would be the Prinsendam as the inside cabins are too tiny for us.

Nice touch is naturally the curtain behind the bed. I generally had the curtain pulled when we were an inside so the room felt the same. Both of us like it really dark in the cabin at night so the Inside worked for us. I was pleased to see that Captain Albert likes an Inside also. We generally never spent much time in our rooms even when we had a Veranda. Exception would be our Veranda on the Zaandam to Hawaii. The weather was so nice that it was enjoyable to sit out on the Veranda both day and night.

The Inside is 182 sq ft according to HAL. I did notice that the couch is slightly smaller than the coach in an Oceanview or a Veranda. But since there was only the two of us, it really didn't matter. Most of the time only one of us was sitting in it.

I think we had one closet bank less than what you have in an Oceanview, but we still had plenty of room for 14 days worth of clothes (3 suitcases full).

Pictures of Cabin 319 on the Statendam during the 28 day transit from San Diego to Ft Lauderdale & return. It was a great cabin, near everything, but right next to a set of double doors leading out to the Promenade deck and idiot people kept leaving the inner double doors open which caused the outer doors to bang shut particularly when people went out to walk at 5 am and again during afternoon naps. It was also across from the large storage and work room for the room stewards which start their day about 6 am - so not the cabin for folks that like to sleep in past 5 am.

I thought I would pass along a couple of pictures I took on Cabin Cat D 418 Aft Promonade Deck onboard Statendam. This cabin is about a foot wider than the standard cabin. Very quiet location and a nice view of the back of the ship. Very convenient to the promonade. It is bumpy if the ship hits rough weather.

We had deluxe verandah suite 016. It has been beautifully updated—new couch, carpet, bathroom counter, curtains and more. It was very spacious and had tons of cupboards and closets. We slept well, but it was a little noisy in the morning. I could hear some kind of service door opening in the hallway and deck chairs scrapping on the Lido deck above. But at least this got us up at a decent hour.

Statendam 049 cabin which is on the Navigation Deck. Terrific cabin. Loved the location. A few steps away from the aft elevators that take you right to the Lido.We sailed 12/21/2009 from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego on the Statendam. This was our 1st HAL cruise and was 18 days from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego. Loved HAL. Looking forward to our next cruise on HAL. We are very pleased with our 1st HAL experience.
