On Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam, Oosterdam, Prinsendam, Zuiderdam: Every single Stateroom has a cooler (HAL does not like to use the word refrigerator as they don't get as cool as some medicines that require "refrigeration" need... but they will get beverages cold...)

On the rest of the HAL fleet (and note the above says NIEUW AMSTERDAM... NOT Amsterdam ) If it has a verandah, it has a cooler!

IRL_Joanie's Note: The standard Verandah/Balcony is 6 feet deep by 9 feet wide. VA aft/stern Verandah/Balcony are deeper (how much depends on which deck, and Vista class versus Signature class). VD are 7.5 feet deep. VF and VE on Vista Class ships, Noordam, Oosterdam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam, Verandah deck are only 4.5 feet deep. As of this time I do not have information on the Verandah/Balcony sizes of the PS, SA, SB, SC or SY categories Staterooms.

WiFi Antenna Locations

If you want to get the best possible wifi signal in your cabin on the Noordam, book one near the locations of the hallway antennas that I have listed below. I would bet that they are in similar locations on the other three Vista ships as well.

What a room! stateroom 1018 HUGE like the size of a jr suite on other ships. it was a square room and had nice bedding and ample storage 3 closets and a pit style sofette with a bed in it, a vanity and fridge and the bathroom was fine. it was very large onlydrawback was the tv being smaller did not swivel so you can see it better from the Bed. our cabin stewards were fantastic unobtrusive and knew our names.. we told them we only need clean towels and Ice.. they always had that avail. cutest towel animals and they still ut choclates on the Bed.

Body on bed did not come with stateroom!! Found the cabin to be quite comfortable....This HH class was a 'fully obstructed' but as you can see by the picture, you could look right thru the life boat and see land, sea and weather. The window was from floor to ceiling. IT WAS A VERY NICE CABIN. Can't see why it would be described as 'fully obstructed'. Guess that's 'ship description'?? HH lass....location was good also.....AND SO WAS PRICE!!

5013 was great, but it's close to the front of the ship and the motion was very pronounced there. It was my first cruise, so I may have just been more susceptible to motion sickness, but whenever we had people over from other rooms, they commented on the motion. Besides that, we loved our room!! For our room, I took pictures of the bed as a queen and also as twins, which is how my friend and I got them to set it up.

I was alone in the cabin and loved it! It was perfectly sized for one or two people and had ample closet space. There was no couch due to the "sideways" layout of the room but I didn't miss it. The location of the cabin was fantastic to my tastes! I was right around the corner from the aft stairs and elevators and found getting to the Lido pool and restaurant easy. I would happily book this cabin again for a solo trip. The pictures don't show the entirety of the room. This is because it was small enough to get the idea without photographing the entire place. Instead I focused on the bed with the curtains above creating the look of the faux window. I also focused on the size of the bathroom because it was definitely plenty big enough for one or two.

We were in SY suite 6055. It is located forward on the starboard side. We liked the location as it was about mid-way between the forward and mid-ship elevators. The room itself was spacious with three large closets and more drawer space than we could use. The bathroom was great! It had two sinks and two medicine cabinets. There was a separate soaking tub with jets and a stand-up shower stall. The room had a dressing table with stool and lighted make-up mirror as well as a desk with chair. There was a shelving unit for glasses and other items above the TV. We asked the cabin steward to remove the two arm chairs by the couch. There was really not space for them and as shown in the pictures, once the chairs were removed there was a lot more space. The balcony was also spacious with room for a table with three chairs and two large arm chairs with ottomans. We would absolutely book this room again!

SY cabin (#6058). What a great value; the room is a nice size with a spacious bathroom and balcony. My wife really enjoyed the whirlpool bath and appreciated the shelf under the double sink for storing her cosmetics. The room was a little worn and the carpet stained but these issues were easily overlooked; the bedding was very nice.

I think they loved their room, the location was really nice and the bathroom was huge! A bathtub with jets and a shower. As well quite a roomy suite which was good as my granny has a walker.

Notes for Westerdam PS 7046. This cabin was magnificent! A last minute upsell allowed us to experience this once in a cruise-lifetime treat. I wish the pictures did it more justice. Missing from these pix are the second bathroom (1/2 bath) just off the entryway. A pull-out bed is available in the living room, built into the wall unit (a double size I think, we didn’t need it.) The full kitchen included a coffee pot, full fridge, and microwave. There were dishes and glasses for at least 8 settings. There is a large dining area in the cabin and another on the huge deck. Closets galore, a big desk area, as well as a nicely arranged dressing table. Bright colors, comfy recliner, huge deck, great artwork. Sorry about the claw marks on the door-jam from when they made us leave…

SB 7088 on board the Westerdam at our July 26 cruise to Norway.

The cabin was even larger than I expected and the offset balcony offered a lot of space and a very good view while cruising through the Norwegian fjords. During the sea days it was a bit too windy to stay comfortably at the balcony. This cabin has about the same size as an SA cabin in which we had a look during the cruise. The beds are very comfortable and one of the best we have ever had during a cruise. The bath tub is a little small but our general impression of this cabin is very good. It's a bit of a walk to the Neptune Lounge but that was OK to get rid of a bit of the extra weight we gained by the excellent food served in the MDR and The Pinnacle.

Overall cabin size - 9 x 22 feet. Veranda - 9 x 6 feet. We probably won't get a veranda cabin again - we didn't use it that much. Holland America has the reputation of having some of the best beds - a well deserved one. Quite a nice sized bathroom - but still pretty much one person at a time. I love my tub. Not a huge tub - 28 x 51 inches - but still nicer than just a shower. Inside cabins are the only ones on HAL ships with just showers.

We had originally booked a VE and were upgraded to this VA on Deck 8 Navigation Deck. This was only our 3rd stateroom on a Vista Class ship, the previous 2 staterooms were a Handicapped stateroom in the bend of the ship on the Oosterdam and on the Westerdam in May 2009 we were upgraded from a VF to an SA Deluxe Verandah Suite, both of those staterooms were much much larger! I booked what I booked and it is no ones fault that my own that we ended up in a stateroom this small. I have been spoiled and will never book another stateroom that is this tiny. Do not get me wrong, the stateroom is great, I am just spoiled for the larger staterooms!!

There is only one sink in the bathroom and no jetted tub. The tub is quite deep, so well suited for someone of my size 165 lbs or larger and would be perfect for anyone wishing a long hot soak. There is storage space under the sink as well as a large medicine cabinet to the side of the sink. There is a 2-3 inch step to get from the stateroom into the bathroom, which can be hazardous if the ship rolls at the same time you are attempting to step up into it. There is plenty of room to move around in the bathroom.

The stateroom itself; There is room between the foot of the wonderfully comfortable bed and the wall for one person to walk, but not enough to get my rented scooter to the only plug in the room, which was located on the desk. I had to turn my scooter over to housekeeping every night so they could take it and charge and store it every night for me.

There was no selection of pillows for this category stateroom, you got soft only, but could request as many as needed, we ended up with 8 bed pillows total.

There was one small desk which had a lighted double sided make up mirror attached to it, the single 220/110 plug outlet, a refridgerator/cooler minibar in one side which has a vent where your knees go and a teeny tiny cabinet in the left side which has on one shelf the attached hair dryer and a shelf with a couple of glasses. There was a small ottoman, which opened up for us to put our dirty clothes into as well as using as an extra place to sit as we ate or did any work at the desk. It was impossible to use the provided chair in the stateroom due to the stateroom being so tiny, you had the table (which is adjustable (see photos above) pushed into it so one person could sit on the 2 seat sofa, which converts to a sofa bed for 1 person.

This stateroom is located directly under the spot where the HAL Cats set up to play on the Lido Deck Aft Pool, BUT was not a problem for us. While we could hear them moving deck chairs and hear the music, it was not loud enough to be disturbing nor was it often heard. I swear, we were almost lulled to sleep by the band a couple of nights, it was that soft.

The verandah was small but nice and provided great views and was quite protected from strong winds by the stateroom deviders. We got lots of sun and shade on this verandah.

Our stateroom stewards were absolutely fantastic! Lu and Jo could not do enough for us and made sure we were happy at all times. You ask for anything and they made sure it was done almost immediately! We asked to have the mini bar emptied at st Maartens and 10 minutes later a Bar person was ther empting the fridge so I could place my newly purchased 10 kilo Gould Cheese round in it:)

Would I book this stateroom category again? NO, but only because of the size for 2 people and lack of space to get my scooter into it and because I want a jetted tub!!!
